Howard Shaughnessy Jr. was born on June 28, 1925, in Connecticut, United States. He was the eldest of three children of Howard and Myrtle Shaughnessy. In 1930, the family was living in Chicago. In 1935, they lived in Springfield, Illinois, and in 1940, they lived in Downers Grove.

Howard passed away in November 1971. At the time of his death, he was living in Hudson County.
