John Shaw was born in England about 1863. He immigrated to the United States about 1906 and worked as a stone mason in Northbridge, Massachusetts. He had been a member of the British Army, serving in the Boer War and in India. He re-entered the service in March 1914. John Shaw died of disease in 1917.
