15. ↑ Source: #S447 "Ottawa Herald, The". Mrs. S. E. Shaw Obituary Mary Miranda Marcum was born September 7th, 1872 near Greenfield Missouri, the daughter of William K. and Marietta (Hembree) Marcum. She died July 18, 1934, at the family home eight miles west of Ottawa, Kansas, aged 61 years, 10 months and 11 days. She had been in failing health for some fifteen years, and seriously ill two days, death resulting from heart prostration and a complication of diseases. She had been blind for the last five years. In 1891 she moved with her parents to the Indian Territory. On February 25, 1892, she was married to Silas E. Shaw at Muskogee, Oklahoma. One year later they returned to Missouri, and purchased a home at Seybert, in Dade County, MO. where all the children were born. This place was sold and a new home established on a farm eight miles west of Ottawa, Kansas in 1919. Twelve children came to bless this union, one daughter, Nora died when almost two years of age. Mr. Shaw survives, and the eleven surviving children are: Ruth Crooks, May, Oklahoma; Herbert M. Shaw, Riverside, California; Bessie Stoaks, San Gabriel, California; Susie Crooks, Farley, New Mexico; William E., George A., and Robert E Shaw of Ottawa, Kansas; Mary Ray, Harrison, Arkansas; Cora Sanders, Quenemo, Kansas, Hadyn and Maxine of the Home and 27 grandchildren.
