The manor of Abberton was granted (apparently jointly) on 16 January 1544 to William Sheldon of Beoley and this Francis Sheldon, sons of Ralph. This William Sheldon of Beoley to whom the co-grant of 1544 was made died on 24 December 1570.
"Ralph Sheldon's son Francis was bequeathed 100 marks, a lease from Tewkesbury Abbey, and a croft and pasture for 500 sheep in Broadway, for which he was to pay Baldwin Sheldon £7 a year rent. Francis's descendants continued at Abberton until the early 19th century.[1]
Said to be the "founder" of the Sheldons of Abberton,[2] but this cannot be correct as his predecessors were at Abberton.
"In 1544 the manor [of Talton, in Tredington, Worcestershire] was granted to William and Francis Sheldon, and they in the same year sold the site to William Barnes."[3]
