Biography

Charles was born on the 4 September 1881 at 2.00 am at George Street, in the Market Town of Coupar Angus, near the Riiver Isla, south east of the Town of Blairgowrie, in the Parish of Coupar Angus, Forfarshire, Scotland[1]. He was the son of Peter Duncan Shepherd and Isabella Moon.

Marriage

Jessie Robertson (Lumsden) marries Charles (Shepherd) on the 31 December 1920 at the Farm Cottages, in the Hamlet of Wellsgreen, directly north of the Village of East Wemyss, District of Wemyss, in Fife, Scotland.

We find Charles living with his parents Peter Duncan (Shepherd) and Isabella (Moon), along with siblings John, Jane, Henry, Peter, Mary Slidders and Maria (Shepherd). They reside at 27 Causeway End, in the Town of Coupar Angus, Forfarshire, Scotland[3]. By 1901, he is out lodging with widow, Matilda (Urquhart); her children James, George, Elizabeth, John and Henry (Urquhart) and her grandson John (Young). They reside at Galt Cottages, in the Village of Muirhead, north east of the Village of Liff, Parish of Liff, District of Liff, Benvie and Invergowrie, in Forfarshire, Angus, Scotland[4]. At the time of his death in 1967, he is living with Jessie at 51 Henderson Park, in the Village of Windygates, north west of the Town of Buckhaven, District of Windygates, Parish of Wemyss, in Fife, Scotland.

Occupation

With the Census Record of 1901, Charles' occupation is transcribed as being a Baker. However, by the time of his marriage in 1920, he is recorded as being a Distillery Stoker/Worker. It seems he continues in this occupation until he retires, according to his Death Record.

Death

Charles (Shepherd) passes away on the 24 January 1967 at 9.30 pm at 51 Henderson Park, in the Village of Windygates, north west of the Town of Buckhaven, District of Windygates, Parish of Wemyss, in Fife, Scotland. He was 85 years old at the time and dies from Myocardial Infarction; Chronic Congestive Heart Failure; Myocarditis and Pernicious Anaemia. His brother-in-law, C. Lawson was informant and Charles' surname was spelt "Shephard" on the Record[5].
