Biography

William was baptised on April 18th 1841 in Worfield by his parents William and Sarah^[1]

In 1841, 1 year old William is living in Worfield with his parents^[2]

In 1851, 10 year old William is living with his parents in Worfield^[3]

In 1861, 20 year old William is working as a servant on Jane Edwards' farm in Albrighton. His sisters Martha, Ann and Caroline are working on the same farm^[4]

In 1870, on December 29th, William, son of William Shepherd, married 24 year old Ann Bentley, daughter of Samuel Bentley, in Worfield^[5]

In 1871, 28 year old William is living with his widower father William and new wife Ann in Worfield^[6]

In 1881, 38 year old William is living in Oldbury with his family where he is working as a coachman^[7]

In 1891, 49 year old William is living in Oldbury with his children and working as a gardner^[8]

Late in 1891, William remarried, this time to Mary Palmer^[9][10]

Research Notes

The FamilySearch link for 1861 only shows the page of the census with the Shepherds on it and mistakenly says it is the household of Herbert Rigger who is the 5 year old nephew of Jane Edwards, a widow who is the actual head of household.
