Biography

Edmund is the child of Samuel Sherman and Hester Burgess. [1]

Edmund Sherman was the first of his family to use the Arms of Sherman of Yaxley, Suffolk, apparently without proof of his entitlement to do so (See NEGHR 166:245). The same Arms (argent, a lion rampant sable between three holly leaves vert (or proper) were also born by the Sherman family of Ottery St. Mary, Devon, which also claimed descent from the Yaxley family (Though the Yaxley family could hae been decended from the Ottery St. Mary family)
