Biography
He was an actor from Melbourne, Australia with a repute for Scotch and dialect part.
He arrived in San Francisco on 11 Aug 1865, and soon made his stage debut in that city.[1]
On 27 Sep 1867, he married 21-year-old actress Maggie Gourlay. She died unexpectedly, just over a tear later, on 2 Oct 1868. It appears he was back on stage in Mobile, Alabama less than three weeks later.[2]
In 1876, he apparently retired from the stage and became a revivalist preacher.[3]
