Daniel was born in 1815. He passed away in 1876. Daniel Shiels fought in the Confederate army during the American Civil War; he enlisted in the 40th Georgia. He was captured after the fall of Vicksburg, took the oath of allegiance and went home to Ireland with his wife and family.
