Mary A. Sipes, Pioneer, Taken

Mary Alice Sipes, 78, a resident of Lewiston Orchards and Lewiston since 1902, died at 8 last night at the Nelson nursing home, Lewiston Orchards. Death was attributed to an intestinal obstruction. Mrs. Sipes had been ill for several months and was a patient at St. Joseph's hospital before entering the nursing home.

She was born Aug. 4, 1871, at Londesboro, Ontario, Canada. On Nov. 24, 1892, she was married to A. J. Sipes at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Her husband survives.

Arrived in 1902

Mr. and Mrs. Sipes came to this area in 1902 and lived at Lewiston Orchards 40 years before moving to 1222 14th Ave.

She was a communicant of the Methodist church.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Sipes is survived by four sons, Dell R., and Kay W., Lewiston, Clyde W., Seattle, and W. Morris, Tacoma; a sister, Minnie Booth, Sault Ste. Marie; two brothers, John Shobbrook, Sault Ste. Marie, and William Shobbrook, Vancouver, B.C., ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The body is at the Brower-Wann funeral home with arrangements pending.
