DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
"The name Shouse is an Anglicized spelling of the German "Schaus or Schauss," according to Eugene Earl Trimble of Maryland in 1963. One reference to the origin of the name Schaus may be found in The Library of Congress #CS2545.G6, 1954. Johan Jurig Shous age 22 (Johann Jorg Schaus. From the foregoing we know that Johann Adam Schauss was born in 1703 or 1704, probably in the Palatinate, and since his name is grouped with married men at the time of his imp;ortation Sept. 1, 1736, we know he was married and probabl;y had a family at that time. From various subsequent records it is apparent that he used the name Adam Schauss which when Anglicized usually appeared as ADAM SHOUSE.
I added a source for the death of William Joseph Shouse.
