Biography

Joseph Biddulph Scrope Shrapnel was most likely born in Queensland in 1879, although no birth registration has been found. He was the son of Joseph Shrapnel, and his partner Esther Voyce.

He firstly married Lina Helen (or Heline) Tardent on 20 December 1911, at St Michaels, Kingaroy, Queensland, which was reported in The Brisbane Courier dated 15 January 1912. ^{[1] [2]}

His second wife was Ruby Laura Amy Markwell, who he married on 9 April 1934, in the seamans mission chapel, in Brisbane. An account of the marriage appeared in The Brisbane Courier-Mail dated 14 April, which gave their parents as Dr and Mrs N S Shrapnel, and the late Mr J I Markwell. ^{[3] [4]}

Joseph passed away in Queensland on 3 August 1955. His parents were confirmed as Joseph Needham Scrope Shrapnel and Esther Voyce. ^[5]

He was buried in the Oakey Cemetery, Oakey, Toowoomba Region, Queensland ^[6]
