Biography

George Sinclair was baptized 26 Dec 1838 at Banchory Devenick, the son of Hugh Sinclair and Margaret Walker. George was with his parents and sister Jane in the 1841 census at Larkshill in Banchory Devenick. In the 1851 census, George is with his widowed Mother and brother Hugh at the Hill of Banchory^[1]. George married Jane Emslie Grant on 14 Oct 1859 in Aberdeen. They had at least 10 children.
In the 1861 census, George and Jane were living at 70 Gerrard St in Aberdeen with their 2 month old son John G^[2]. In the 1871 census, George and Jane E were living at 72 Gerrard St with their children Jane, Margaret A, James E, and William G^[3].

George was a Wholesale Grocer when his 36 year old wife Jane died 15 Jan 1879.

On 23 Jan 1880, 41 year old widowed George, at 72 Gerrard St, married Janet aka Jessie Smart, a 31 year old Dressmaker. They married at Janet's home, 79 Hutcheon St in Aberdeen. Witnesses were Alexander Boyd and A. W. Porter. In the 1881 census, George, a Tea Merchant, is with his wife Jessie and his children Jane, James E. William G, Georgina R., and Eleanor at 72 Gerrard St in Aberdeen.

George, a 60 year old Harness Composition Manufacturer, died 13 Feb 1899 at 138 Mid Stocket Rd in Aberdeen. He had Phthisis. His son James E Sinclair was present when he died.
