William legally changed his name from William Henry Cowen Skiff to William Henry Cowen 7 Jul 1858 in Plymouth County Court. (he uses Skiff in the 1850 and 1855 Census). His mother legally changed her name from Eliza W. Skiff to Eliza W. Cowen (her maiden name) Mar. 11, 1872.
