Edmund was baptised at St Laurence's, Long Coombe, Oxfordshire on 7th November 1824[1]. He was the son of John Slatter and Sarah (Moulder) Slatter. His father stated on the register that he was a labourer and that the family were living in Long Coombe at the time.
