Biography

Edgar was born in Exeter, Devon in 1837 and baptised on 13 September that year. ^[1] He was the son of George Holmes Smale and his wife Harriet née Cullum.

In the census of 1851, Edgar was

Edgar married Fanny Ware in June 1858.^{[2] [3]} They don't seem to have had children.

In 1871 he was living with his wife in Devon and working as a commercial traveller. ^[4]

In the census of 1881, Edgar was a hotel keeper in Castle St, Exeter, Devon and still living with his wife. ^[5]

Edgar died in 1884 in Exeter, Devon. ^{[6] [7]}
