Philip Smart was born on 15 December 1863 in Connewarre, Victoria, Australia, the son of Eliza (James) Smart and James Smart.^[1]

He married Isabella Annie Byers on 18 August 1897 in Strathbogie, Victoria.^[2] Their children were:

Phillip died on 24 July 1929 in Strathbogie, aged 65 years.^[4]
