William Smerdon was born in the Colony of Queensland (1859-1900)

William Smerdon was born on 6 September 1891 in the Colony of Queensland, son of William Smerdon (1867–1945) and Betty Butler (1871–1940). ^[1]

William (25) and Annie Elizabeth Groves (22) were married on 20 June 1917 in Queensland, Australia ^[2]. Annie was born on 29 September 1894 in the Colony of Queensland. She was the daughter of George Groves and Mary Jane (Kyte) Groves. Their known children were:

• Ivy May Smerdon (6 March 1918 – unknown)
• William Arthur Smerdon (11 April 1919 – 28 September 1987)
• Colin James Smerdon (29 December 1920 – 11 March 2000)
• Gertrude Mary Smerdon (16 March 1924 – 7 September 1990)
