Biography

Anne Smith was daughter of John Smith of South Tidworth, Hampshire and his wife, Mary Wright. [1]

By licensed granted 17 May 1670 she married Samuel Dashwood, son of London merchant, Francis Dashwood, and his wife, Alice Sleigh.[1] They were the parents of 3 sons one of whom died in the lifetime of his father, (probably Francis as he was the first born but did not inherit) and 7 daughters. [1]

While Anne was busy with her children Samuel got on with making his way in the world especially after he succeeded his father in 1683. He was knighted the following year and in 1685 was returned to parliament as member for London for the first time.[1] In 1702 he served as Lord Mayor of London. [2]

Samuel died 10 September 1705 aged 63 and was buried at Mortlake. [1]

Anne died on 16 June 1721.[1]
