Biography

Newman E. Smith, a house carpenter at Brooklyn, New York (1880 USC) and traveling salesman (marriage record; death record), was born at Strong, Maine (per marriage record), c1847, the son of Sidney and Mary G. (_____) Smith; ^{[1] [2] [3]} died of pneumonia at Bangor, 15 Dec 1906, ae "54", ^[4] and buried in Mount Hope Cemetery. ^{[5] [6]} He married (1) c1875, Harriet (_____), b in Massachusetts, c1851; ^[7] divorced before 10 Sep 1900, when he married (2) at Bangor, Maine, Jennie Lind Washburn, ^{[8] [9]} born at Bangor, Jun 1862, the daughter of Eliphalet Washburn and Rowena Flynn ; ^{[10] [11] [12]} died of pulmonary tuberculosis at Bangor, 4 Mar 1912, ae 50y, ^[13] and buried with her husband in Mount Hope Cemetery. ^{[14] [15]}
