Research Note
- I have not been able to locate of copy of Charles Smiths marriage to Betty Vickers that provides information of Charles' fathers name.
- Two Charles Smiths born about 1833 in the Thorpe Hesley area appear on the 1851 census.
- This means that Charles father is likely to be either John Smith or Thomas Smith but without seeing the actual marriage entry it is impossible to determine which one is correct.
- Family trees on ancestry give the father as Thomas Smith, but none give any evidence to support this. Williams-47589 08
