Biography

Henry Smith was born on 22 Jun 1799, probably in Edgbaston, Warwickshire. He was the son of Timothy and Elizabeth Smith. The gravestone gives his birth year as 1800, but it seems likelier that the birth record gives the year correctly as 1799. One of the transcriptions gives his birthplace as Edgbaston, one as London, and one as Cripplegate, London, so he may have been born in London.

Henry died on 12 Sep 1864 in Leamington, aged 65. The obituaries gave his place of death as Leamington, his father as Timothy Smith, and his wife as Phipson.
