Biography
Polley appears to have been born a Smith not a Barkley - not named in the Will of Thomas Barkley - some on other sites have made her a daughter of a Thomas Barkley who died in 1814. Her name on the marriage record is Polly Smith with a Peter Smith bearing witness. This Polley Smith married to a John Smith appears to have died in childbirth with an infant daughter per the gravestone image at Find A Grave https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/16006860/p-smit This Polley Smith unknown parents.
