Velna Clyde Smith Burkhead was my Mother. A woman of strong character and beliefs she raised 12 children and lost 1 child (a son) during childbrith. She was born and raised in Denton, NC. In 1925 she married Junius Jones Burkhead and she gave birth to Edwyn, Maxine, Dumont, Colleen and Janet in Denton, NC. Lindo,Joe,Shirley,Virginia,Judi,and JD were born in Hanover County, Va and Jerry Clark Burkhead was born in Justiville, Va.

There will never be another like her. Her family loved her very much and she is greatly missed.
