Margaret was born in 1830. She passed away in 1880. [1]

Charles is listed as her father in the record of her marriage to Burnet in Trove: The Age Family Notices June 1855

She emigrated to Victoria, Australia on the Lady Kellaway in1848. This was a ship carrying orphan girls from Ireland under the Earl Grey scheme. Margaret was a laundress while on the ship and was paid for her services.

I have found a reference to a Margaret Smyth of the right age in the ships log of the Lady Kellaway which brought Irish orphan girls to Melbourne in December 1848. She is listed as part of the staff as a laundress and was paid 2 pounds. Reference Public Records of Victoria.
