Biography
Nothing is known of the ancestry of Mary Soper. Based on the date of her marriage, 1803 is a reasonable estimate for her birth date. She was probably a daughter of either Alexander Soper or Eli Soper of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), but no evidence has been found to establish a relationship.
On 1 Apr 1823, the town clerk of Livermore, Maine, certified that "an intention of marriage between Mr. David Major [or Majors] of Hartford & Miss Mary Soper of Livermore has been entered & published in the town of Livermore as the law directs."[1]
