Rear-Admiral Charles Sotheby was born in 1782. He was the son of William Sotheby and Mary Isted.
He married, firstly, Hon. Jame Hamilton, daughter of William Hamilton of Wishaw, 7th Lord Belhaven anChild of Rear-Admiral Charles Sotheby and Hon. Jame Hamilton
