Biography
Edna, daughter of George W. Sowers and Emma Jane Winters, was born 11 July 1894 in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania.[1]
On 13 September 1913 in Hanover, York County, she married Walter Lewis Mummert,[2] son of Louis Wildasin "Lewis" Mummert and Ellen Reed "Ella" Hartman. They had children:
- Mabel P. (Mummert) Zartman (2 April 1914;[3][4] m. John Albert Zartman;[4] d. 5 July 1994).[3][4] At least four children.
- Howard C. Mummert (8 March 1916;[5][6] m. Helen Lightner;[6] d. 4 April 1987).[5][6] At least two sons.
- Geraldine Alta (Mummert) Wildasin (28 September 1918;[7][8] m. Melvin Millheim Wildasin;[8] d. 17 October 1993).[7][8] At least one son.
- Living (Mummert) Becker.
- Living Mummert.
- Charles Edward Mummert (12 January 1926; d. 20 August 1926).[9]
- Lester E Mummert (2 October 1931;[10][11] m. Goldie V. Stouter;[citation needed] d. 26 April 1991).[10][11]

Walter L. Mummert (age 46, truck driver for dairy), Edna Mummert (45, laundress at home), Howard (24, general hauling truck driver), Lester E. (8), Frances Jean (4) and daughters aged 17 and 14, as well as Walter's youngest brother Stanford L. Mummert (39, truck driver for ice company).[16] The younger generation were much better educated than their parents: Walter had completed just six years of schooling and Edna, four; while Howard finished his sophomore year in high school and the others were still students.[16]
Edna died 7 February 1978 in Hanover[1] and was buried there 11 February 1978 at Mount Olivet Cemetery.[17]
