Banffshire History

Although there is plenty of evidence of prehistoric habitation, particularly near the coast; as can be seen in the Bronze Age long barrow known as Longman Hill cairn and in the Cairn Lee monument, these appear to be the earliest.[1] The ruins of several medieval castles and the 12th century kirk of Gamrie are also located in this area.[2]
