Information: Bexley Cemetery is the second oldest cemetery in Upper Island Cove and closed about 1949. It had maybe 800 to 900 graves, it's hard to say with a lot of burial record gone in a church fire. Today it as about 136 headstones or markers that you can see. One of the oldest headstones still standing belong to Joseph Drover Died 19 Nov 1866 age 71. If you ever get to visit this Cemetery, park on the side of the road because you would have to walk up a residents driveway to get to the Cemetery. Once a rich cod fishing town, fell on hard times between 1900-1930 and over 500 children under the age of 10 years is now in Bexley Hill Anglican Cemetery.
