An attempt at a list of online searchable indexes of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

  • National - The Ryerson Index Online Database contains 5,369,243 notices from 307 different Australian newspapers allowing people to locate which papers the death notices were published in.

With the NSW Indexes, the Binary Search Algorithm can be used to get the exact date of the event.

  • Northern Territory, The Genealogical Society of the Northern Territory holds Birth, Death and Marriage records for the British Settlement period which commenced in 1824, and Birth, Death and Marriage indexes from 1873 when newspapers began publication, to the current year, in addition they also have indexed articles that appear in the newspapers about families and events and have many unpublished indexes.
  • South Australia, Genealogy SA searches are available online. Limited results are available for free.
  • Western Australia, pioneers index, Free online search available. Basic information returned; name, event date, fathers name, mothers name.
  • Western Australia reverse marriages lookup it is handy for finding marriage records that you can't find in the BDM WA pioneer index.

The Northern Territory site listed here doesn't seem to have any online indexes etc, or perhaps they are only available to members. The home page also appeared to have been spammed...
