Location
The Carthage City Cemetery and Odd Fellows Cemetery (sometimes listed as IOOF) are located next to each other close to downtown Carthage.[1] Both have been documented using records from Hawthorn Funeral Home and surveys by volunteers of the Cemeteries of TX Project.[2][3]
There are entrances on both Cotton Street (by First Baptist Church) and St. Mary Street (the east boundary). Although the arch at the entrance shows "Odd Fellows Cemetery," that middle road generally divides the two cemeteries—with a few caveats.

Since these cemeteries are adjacent with no fence between them, the two have been used interchangeably in the past, which has caused some confusion and duplication of data. In particular, there is one old section of Odd Fellows that is located west of road between them, close to Market Street/FM-10 where the Sammy Brown Library is located. Many people think that the middle road is the boundary, but that is not exactly correct:[4]
- "The line between the two cemeteries is odd, but I know where it is. … The middle east/west road with City on the north side and Odd Fellows on the south is correct. From the middle road on the west/library side the road goes north towards First Baptist - at the first of two curves stop - there will be the Boggs graves on the RH. Draw an imaginary line just behind the Boggs markers north to the fence. Everyone on the RH side including the Boggs family is City and to the LH side is Odd Fellows. My late brother worked at Hawthorns for almost forty years showed me. Also, before he passed away, Mr. Andrew Maxey, who was kind of the committee chairman over them showed me also." - KD Burleson

Disambiguation
There are two cemeteries named Odd Fellows in Carthage. This one is located on Cotton Street and is not the same as the African-American Odd Fellows Cemetery that is on Wisteria Street, located just a few miles northeast.
