Community Cemetery for the residents of Alia, Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Many peope from Alia have immigrated to the United States, but their ancestors lie here.

A genetic research center is located at the cemetery in Alia. They dug up remains from 300 people who were alive before the Great Cholera Epidemic of 1837. Only those with some Eastern European ancestors survived. Those with only Sicilian genes succumbed to cholera.

About half the surnames in Alia disappeared at that time. Perhaps this center may have burial reords? More research is needed.
