This indenture made the sixth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six, between William Stapleford of New Castle County and State of Delaware and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Williams of the County aforesaid and Susanna his wife, William C Deputy and Janet his wife of Cecil County and State Maryland, and Mary Deputy of New Castle County and State of Delaware of the one part and John L Deputy of Red Lion Hundred, New Castle County and State of Delaware of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said William Stapleford and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Williams and Susana his wife, William C Deputy and Janet his wife and Mary Deputy for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and eight dollars and eighty seven cents, lawful money of the United States of America to them the said William Stapleford and wife, Thomas Williams and wife, William C Deputy and wife and Mary Deputy in hand paid by the said John L Deputy before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof the said William Stapleford, Thomas Williams, William C Deputy and Mary Deputy doth hereby acknowledge, and thereof and there from and from every part and parcel thereof, doth, acquit, release, exonerate and forever discharge the said John L Deputy his heirs, executors and administrators and by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, released and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, alien, release, and confirm unto the said John L Deputy his heirs and assigns all that tract piece or parcel of land the second division or part of the estate of John Deputy (Senior) deceased, situate thereof in Pencader Hundred, and that other part in Red Lion Hundred in the County of New Castle and State of Delaware described and bounded as follows:
Beginning at a stone on the West side of the old Maryland Road on a line of lands of Abel Levil and a corner for William Silvers and this land, thence South 61.45 degrees West 35.9 perches to a stone a corner for Abel Levil and Samuel Topin (deceased) South fifty four degrees East twenty four and four tenths perches, to a corner in the road for Samuel Toppin dec'd and the Heirs of Edward Carty dec'd thence, with the turn of the road, North forty and three fourths degrees West twenty nine and three tenths perches North fifty degrees West twenty one and five tenths perches North twenty one and a quarter degrees West seven perches North one half degree West nine perches and six tenths, North forty one degrees, East six perches and one tenth, North thirty eight degrees, East eight perches and three tenths, North fourteen and a half degrees, East five and two tenths perches North thirty and one quarter degree, West eleven and one fourth perches thence North forty five degrees East with a line of the heirs of Joseph Rhodes, dec'd, to a new corner for the said John L Deputy's woodland thence about South twenty six degrees East to Red Lion Run thence with a water fall or gulley, a line for this land and William Silvers. North thirty six and a quarter degrees West ten and four tenths perches, North twenty four degrees, West eighteen perches, North thirty seven degrees, West twenty one perches North twenty degrees West fourteen and five tenths perches, North twenty four degrees, West sixteen perches to the place of beginning.
Containing thirty four acres, three rods, and ten perches of land, be the same more or less, together with all and singular the meadows, woods, ways, waters, water courses, profits, commodities, advantages, and hereditaments whatsoever to the said tract piece or parcel of land belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the
undivided half or four eights, one eighth being the right of each grantor,
and the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders rents, issues and profits all and singular their right to said premises and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances and also the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever in law or equity of them the said William Stapleford and Elizabeth his wife* and Mary Deputy of in and to all and singular their individiual right of the said premises above mentioned and of in and to every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances, to have and to hold all and singular the said individual rights of the said tract piece of parcel of land, hereditaments and premises above in and by these presents, released and confirmed their right and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John L Deputy, his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said John L Deputy, his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Stapleford and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Williams and Susana his wife, William C Deputy and Janet his wife, and Mary Deputy for themselves their heirs, executors, and administrators do further covenant, grant, promise, and agree to and with the said John L Deputy his heirs and assigns the hereby granted premises with the appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof unto the said John L Deputy his heirs and assigns against them the said William Stapleford and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Williams and Susana his wife, William C Deputy and Janet his wife, and Mary Deputy and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same by through from or under them or any of them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.

We whose names are hereunto signed do hereby acknowledge to have received of John L Deputy our several parts of the consideration money mentioned in the foregoing indenture.

Be it remembered that on the sixth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six (1826) personally appeared before us the subscribers two of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid William Stapleford and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Williams and Susana his wife, William C Deputy and Janetta his wife, and Mary Deputy, the grantors within named and severally acknowledged they signed sealed and delivered the within instrument of writing for the uses and purposes therein expressed -- and desired the same might be recorded as such. And we further certify the said Elizabeth Stapleford, Susanna Williams, Janetta Deputy being seperately examined from their husbands and out of their hearing did declare and say they executed the same of their free and voluntary act without the fear, threats or compulsion of their husbands, or fear of their displeasure.
