Fitz Randolphs in Canada

Fitz Randolphs also settled in Canada but have not been given much attention in the Fitz Randolph genealogies. It would be interesting to know more about that side of our family!

Please identify any Fitz Randolph you know who relocated to and settled in Canada. Do we know what may have motivated them to move there? We can make sure they are included wikitree and if there is sufficient interest, we can contribute to filling in their tree to trace their descendants.

Please contribute if you know of any Fitz Randolphs who relocated to Canada!

Loyalists from the Revolutionary War

  • Robert Fitz Randolph, 1737-1830, Quaker son of Nathaniel of Woodbridge and his first wife Mary Brooks. Robert lived the first part of his life in Woodbridge. While Robert's brother, Capt. Nathaniel 'Natty' Fitz Randolph was a patriot who died from battle wounds during the Revolutionary War in 1780, Robert collaborated with the British. After the end of the war, Robert was penalized for his loyalty and in 1784, he took up a grant of 400 acres of land in Wilmot Twp., Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia, eventually settling on his 'Belle Farm' near Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. The farm stayed in the family for many generations. The family appears to have maintained strong links to United States, and while there are many descendants still in Canada, there are also many in the United States.
