Surnames/tags: McCraw McGraw Carol McCraw
Welcome! If you've encounted this page by clicking on the "McCraw Ahentafel" link in a "McCraw" profile, here is an explanation of the ahentafel coding which it uses:
The code on your ancestor's page will enable an easy trace of the line of ascent from any coded ancestor to the earliest known "McCraw" immigrant to North American, William McCraw. Each number represents the birth order of a child. William Maccraw is #1. Each of his children's code is 1, followed by the number representing their assumed birth order. If your McCraw ancestor's ahentafel code begins with "13", then you are descended from William's third son, also named William. If your ancestor's ahentafel code begins with "14", then you are descended from William's fourth son, Samuel. And so on. Here is a list of his coded children:
The goal of this project is to link all McCraw profiles to William McCraw, and to transfer the exhaustive research of Carol McCraw, published in her book, "It's McCraw, Not McGraw", onto WikiTree. Adding the Ahentafel coding used by Carol to each profile will help keep the lines straight as many names are repeated through the generations. The code may be added to the suffix or in the link to this free-space project or both.
Here are some of the tasks to complete:
- Link all existing descendant profiles documented in Carol's book to William McCraw.
- Add Ahentafel code and link to this Free-Space Project.
- Source/Cite each profile with the data from Carol's book.
- Add hyperlinks to children on their parent's profiles.
Do you have a copy of Carol's book? Would you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. I am Elizabeth, one of many 6th Great-Grandaughters of William. Thanks for visiting this project page!
