John was working on a study of the native languages in the area when he was attacked. The book Vocabulary of the Woolner District Dialect, Adelaide River, Northern Territory by John William Ogilvie Bennett, 1869, annotated by Paul Foelsche, was published after his death. Paul was another member of the expedition.[6][7] Buried on Fort Hill, Darwin. |
