Research Notes

NOTE: In an 1837 interview, Jane (Workman) Bradley (abt.1857-aft.1937) provided information that she was enslaved by the Workman family and that she later belonged to M F Workman - she is believed to be the Jane cited in the labor contract. There is no 3 year old female on Workman's 1860 Schedule - which may mean she was either currently owned by another member of the family or DOB is not known for certain, which was common for enslaved persons.
