Errata

  • Page 144:
    • It states that Adam Duke is "surely the son of Joel Duke of Edgefield, South Carolina." It is theorized that a Joel Duke living in Conecuh, Alabama in 1840 could have been their father, but unless there were two Joels in Edgefield, this is suspected to be false. We are still looking for yDNA testers in Joel's line.
    • It states that Adam was "a brother to Joel Duke and John M. Duke." This is likely based on the Smyth book, which may be correct (but lists their father as John, not Joel). While yDNA indicates a close relationship between Adam and John M. Duke, whether they were brothers is not definitively proven. Additionally, some autosomal evidence may indicate that Joel Emerson Duke could have been their brother, but matches are too distant for proof. We are still looking for yDNA testers in Joel Emerson's line. Can you help solve this mystery?
    • It states that Brinson "Tobe" Duke married Arrie Pierce. Arrie was his niece. He actually married Jennie Plemons.
