In the Name of God Amen the Nine and Twenty Day of September in the yeare of ouer Lord God 1729 I Thomas
Pike of the p[ari]sh of St Maryes in Cricklade in the County of Wilts Carpenter being Sick & weake in Body but of perfect mind and
Memory all praise be given to God therefore Calling unto mind the Mortallity of my Body and knowing that it is Appointed
once for all ^men to Die do Make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recom-
mend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, And as for my Body I Commend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the
discretion of my Executor. Nothing Doubting but at the general Resurection I shall Receive the Same againe by the Mighty
Power of God, And as Tuching Such Worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this Life I Give ^and dispose of the Same in the
following Manner. Imprimus I giv and bequeath unto my dearly beloved Wife Martha Pike all my houses ^Except the Common at the north end of my Dwelling with all my other free-(hold)
land and all my goods ^for ever be they of what Sort or kind Soever dureing the Term of her Naturall Life And after her decease my Will andv pleasure is that the Tenement that layeth to the North end and Joyning to my now Dwelling house Shall becom my Daughter Martha
Pike and my Daughter mary Pike dureing the Time they keep them Selves Sengle or un maryed And after ^my wifes decease as aforesaid
the Rest of the Said houseing and other freeland and apurtanances there unto belonging is to be forthwith appraised and valued
by Two persons to be Chosen by my Executor and all or the majore pat of them that are to have their Equall parts there-^of
as followeth Which are my Son Marke Pike my ^Son Josiah Pike my Son John Pike my Daughter Martha Pike my Daughter Mary -
Pike ^and my Son Thomas Pike. And the True intent and meaning of this my last Will and Testament is that my Executor hearafter Nominated Shall within
Two yeare after the decease of my Wife pay or Cause to be paid to those persons above menc[i]oned and to ech of them theire
Equal parts that shall be found to be by a True Estimate and Value Taken, and if my Children Cannot agree in Valuing the Said
premises then they shall Chose Two other persons my Executor to Chose one and the rest of my Children to Chose the other
that Distribution may be made unto them as aforesaid. And if any or either of the Said persons that are to have the Said respective
parts should happen to Die before ^they Enjoy their Said parts then in Such case the Wife and Child or Children either of my [...]
Sons or Daughters Shall enjoy the Said respective Legacies for ever: And if it so happen that my ^Wife should be Sick at any time
then in Such case: every person either Son or Daughter or either of theire Survivors ^shall add^ Towards her ferther
[Torn and undreadable] any or either of the said persons shall refuse the paying the said
respective parts the ^[...] in such case my Executor hereof shall pay the Same to my Wife And after that he shall pay himself out
of the part or parts either of Son or Daughter or either of theire Survivors that shall refuse the Same. Item I give unto my
Wife Martha Pike all my good and houshold Stuff be thay of What Sort So ever for Ever. Item I give unto my wellbeloved
Son Thomas Pike Who I Likewise Constitute, Make and ordaine my only and Sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testement all and Sengula^r my Lands Messuages and Tenements by him freely to be possessed and Enjoyed upon Cond[i]c[i]on
he shall pay all my Debts funeral Charges and also all my Legacies to the True intent and meaning of this my last
Will and Testament as it above menc[i]oned. And I do hear by utterly Disalow, Revoke and Disanull all and every other
former Wills or Testaments, Lagacies, Requests and Executors, by me in any ways heartofore before this Time named
or menc[i]oned, Willed or Bequeath^ed Ratifiing and Conferming this and no other to be my last Will and Testement In
Wittness Where of I have here unto Set my Hand and Seal the Day and Yeare first above Written_. Note that the
goods an houshold Stuff given to my Wife for Ever is menc[i]oned only for Life in the Ninth line hereof by
Mistake and my Son Thomas Pike is one of them that are to have an
Equal part with the rest of my Children as interlined above the fifteeneth
line.
