I note the following family tradition sent me by both Lauren Caughey and Oswald Petersen. Johan Andreas Vilhelm (William) Petersen was said not from the Naestved area but born on "Fuen" another Danish island. (While this name does not match the modern spelling of any Danish island it might be Funen, which is said to be pronouced 'fyn'). This tradition is refuted by the documentary sources. I have determined that William, his sister Karen, his brother Adolph, his half-brother Frederick, and his half-brother Carl (C.F.) were all born in Vallensved, Soro, Danmark, which is quite near to Naestved. I have determined that Peter Larsen their father was born in Skjelskør on the West Coast Sealand (Sjælland) and I suppose it is possible that further back in the family this might be a pattern of eastward migration. However, there is nothing to substantiate this (Fuen) tradition in the documentary evidence
