In the 1880 US Census, Lovina's parents are listed as being from New York. In the 1850 US Census, Merrit and Polly Sperry from Connecticut are listed as having a bunch of children who were born in New York. An appropriately aged Lovina Sperry is among them. Are they her parents and she simply didn't know that they were from Connecticut? Did she know, but they were in a hurry to fill out the 1880 Census so they didn't care about accuracy? I don't know.
However, the odds seem pretty good based on the 1855 Census: Israel Herrington (John Herrington's father) is the neighbor of Merrit and Polly Sperry. Then there is a random family in the Census, followed by John and Lovina Herrington, being visited by a brother-in-law Sperry.
