John was christened 20 Oct 1833 at Arnesby, Leicester, England. Parents John and Maria.[1]
Possibly a brother of Frederick Spriggs.

Obituary.
The death is also announced of an
old resident of Devenish, in the person
of Mr John Spriggs, who died on Sunday last deceased, an Englishman
by birth, was for years past a noted
breeder of pigs and poultry, and at
almost every show in the North-east
he was always a successful exhibitor.
The remains were interred at Devenish
on Monday.
Devenish Cemetery, Goorambat, Benalla.[4]
