Biography

Hazel was born in 1909. She was the daughter of James Sprouse and Jane Tomlin. She was recorded with her parents in 1910 in Durbin, Boyd, KY, then in 1920 in Scioto, OH.

She made an unfortunate choice in her first husband. She married Raymond Charles DeAutremont (1900-1984) on 10 Aug 1925. Ray was one of the three brothers responsible for the Siskiyou Train Robbery in Oregon in October, 1923. He was not apprehended until 1927, and the marriage license was under his assumed name "Elmer Albert Goodwin."^[1] They had two children together:

She was recorded in her parents' household in Elizabeth, Lawrence, OH in 1930, along with her two sons. She and her sons were still there in 1940, keeping house for her widowed father.

She married again, at an unknown date, to Kenneth "Dude" Adkins (1883-1971), who had been previously married to Pearl Smith (1879-1946).

She passed away in 2002. She is buried in Buckeye Cemetery, Ohio Furnace, Scioto, OH.
