Biography

Joshua was born to Philip and Mercy Stackpole about 1713, in the part of Dover, New Hampshire that became Somersworth and then Rollinsford. He was baptized as a teenager in South Berwick, Maine, on 15 March 1729.^[1]

Joshua was a blacksmith by trade. He was also a trooper under Lt. Tristram Coffin in Dover on 27 July 1740, and Constable in 1743

Marriages and Children

Joshua Stackpole married three times:^[1]

Marriage 1

First, Joshua apparently married a woman before 1736, whose name remains unknown. They had one child, Mary, baptized 31 May 1736, who probably died young.

Marriage 2

Second, Joshua married Lucy Baker, descendant of Grizel Warren and Margaret Otis, who were carried off to Canada in 1689.

Death

Joshua died between 1769, the birth year of his last child, and 1795, when Abigail was referred to as a widow.^[1]
