The funeral of Mr Arthur C. Steele, an old resident of Zeehan, took place yesterday, when notwithstanding the inclement weather, many attended to pay a tribute of respect to the memory of one they had so much admired and respected in life. Some 19 years ago Mr Steele came to Zeehan, and pre-vious to that time he had spent 15 years on the East Coast at tin mining. During his time in Zeehan he had spent 14 years with Mr Vincent, manager of the British-Zeehan and Zeehan-Dundas Blocks mines. The late Mr Steele was a man of quiet and retiring disposition, but nevertheless his sterling worth was appreciated and recognised by many, and when pneumonia claimed him as a victim a good citizen and an excellent and upright man in every respect ceased to be. Deceased was a son of the late Mr Chas. Steele, of Campania, Tasmania, and he left a widow and six children to mourn their loss. He was a staunch unionist of the highest standard, and many old-time comrades in the cause will regret his passing.
