Biography

As a professor at UW-Madison, he invented the process of vitamin D fortification through ultraviolet radiation, used in grains and milk. This patent was sold to the Quaker Oats company, and in the process he started the first technology transfer office, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.
