Biography
Gustav Steinbach was born 22 September 1849. His mother died very soon after his birth and he was raised by his mother's parents. Gustav attended the Gymnasium school in Göttingen and then the Baugewerkschule at Nienburg an der Weser. This was a technical school for teaching building trades.
He worked as a city site manager (Bauführer) in Göttingen and in 1891 as city builder (Stadtbaumeister) and director of the gas and water utilities in Stade, Hannover.
He married Marie Uhlendorff on 12 September 1878.
