Biography
Native of Cromarty, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland
James was born on the 6 December 1832, and baptized on the 3 February 1833 at the Parish Church, Church Street, in the Town of Cromarty, situated at the tip of the Black Isle on the southern shore of the mouth of Cromarty Firth, it is 5 miles (8 km) seaward from the Town of Invergordon, Parish of Cromartyshire, Scotland[1]. He is the son of James Stephen and Margaret Smith.
