Kinsey's parents are unknown for certain. However it appears a James and Sarah Stewart of Pennsylvania, being of about the correct ages, resided in Coal Run at the same time. Coal Run is a small community so it seems likely they were his parents or at least related.
There appears to have been a second James and Sarah Virgin Stewart, also of Virginia. Their son John was born in 1824 too late to be the same couple mentioned above. It appears Sarah, possible mother of Kinsey, was living with this John in 1850 whereas John's mother Sarah was deceased. Best guess, this James was Kinsey's brother.
Additionally Kinsey appears to have had a son named James and a daughter Sarah.
